WORK EXPERIENCE

CURRENT:
Private Instructor: Have taught voice, piano, and guitar in home for over 30 years. Every year entered, all piano students received the rating of “Superior” at the Young Artists Auditions held annually at Meredith College.

Kings Kompany Quartet: Sing lead vocals and play guitar in a professional jazz band, based in the Triangle area. The group performs show tunes and jazz standards, specializing in ballroom dance music. Also perform solo and duo gigs (with violinist)

Windborne United Methodist Church, Raleigh, NC: Worked as children’s music director and pianist for traditional service. Directed singing group Methodist Men and ladies’ ensemble called Soul Sisters

Kings Kompany Productions: Own and operate the vehicle for recording and producing songs and musicals for nation-wide distribution, such as “Let’s All Sing”, Volumes 1 and 2, commissioned by Community Bible Study and distributed to 300 classes throughout the US. Direct and write material for music theatre production company called Kings Kompany Kids.

Kings Kompany Kids: Music theatre company, write and direct musicals that reflect principles from God’s Word, which provides opportunities for children to honor God and develop their God-given gifts of music and the performing arts.

Christ Baptist Church: Write and direct children’s musicals, lead music for children’s church, sing in adult choir and as a soloist.

PAST:
Celebrant Singers– Traveled Overseas Full-Time with the Celebrant Singers and Orchestra, based in Visalia, CA. Performed in northern and southern Ireland, Yugoslavia, Greece, Crete, Canada, Alaska (every state in the US but Hawaii).

Faith Lutheran School, Raleigh, NC– 1998-2002. Wrote and directed two musicals per year for grades K-4 though 5th grade. Also instructed in general music and theory, including note-reading via study of the recorder, rhythmic patterns via rhythm sticks, chordal structure via handbells, creative movement and dance steps, melodic study via xylophone, music styles, classical pieces and composers, orchestral instrument recognition, two-part singing for older grades and rounds for younger grades, and through extensive use of the comprehensive Music and You Curriculum.

St. Timothys’ School, Raleigh, NC – General music instruction for Grades K-5th. Also accompanied Hale High vocal ensemble and gave private lessons on campus.

Raleigh Charter High School– Accompanist for the Girls’ Ensemble, an elite vocal group, directed by Dr. Cynthia Brown. Substitute teacher for Dr. Brown’s various choral groups.

Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary– Taught intermediate class guitar for seminary students under the direction of Dr. John Boozer.

North Raleigh Arts and Creative Theater– Periodic substitute teacher under Melissa Langston

Asbury School of Music– Private vocal and piano instructor

New Life Camp– Taught Bible and music for many years. Directed a music theater program at New Life Camp that performed original musicals.

Toucan– Performed in schools as a jazz duo, educating on the history and sounds of jazz.

Hudson Memorial Presbyterian Church– 1997-2001. Church pianist for early service Also led the worship team and conducted a music class for kindergarten children and one for teens.

Providence Baptist Church– Choir director for 60 plus children who performed musical and theatrical programs for the church. Also wrote and directed the music for Vacation Bible School for multiple years. Put Scripture memory verses to music for Sunday School Dept. Worship leader and soloist for church conferences, etc. for multiple years. Taught 5th grade Sunday School. Sang with ensemble called Sanctuary.

Crossroads Fellowship- Led teen girls’ Bible Study, sang with worship team and led worship for WOW (Women of Worship)

Westlake Community Church, Cary, NC– Interim worship leader

Northpointe Community Church, Raleigh, NC– Interim worship leader

Redeemer Presbyterian Church– Interim worship leader

North Raleigh Church of the Nazarene– Served on worship team and led ladies’ ensemble

Christ Covenant: Directed teen choir, wrote and directed music for VBS program

Home School Teacher– Taught our 7 children for a total of 20 years, including 2 additional children for one year. Have taught various courses in the homeschool community, including choir, Spanish, art, and sign language.

Family Concerts– Performed programs with 6 daughters as Kings Kompany. The show was a combination of singing, acting, and sharing testimonies.
